Our mission at Oura is to empower every person to own their inner potential. Our award-winning products help our global community gain a deeper knowledge of their readiness, activity, and sleep quality by using their Oura Ring and its connected app. We've helped millions of people understand and improve their health by providing daily insights and practical steps to inspire healthy lifestyles.

Empowering the world starts with living our values and empowering our team. As a quickly growing company focused on helping people live healthier and happier lives, we ensure that our team members have what they need to do their best work — both in and out of the office.

We’re looking for a Staff ML Algorithm Scientist to join our Future Physiology team. This role focuses on advancing Oura’s capabilities in multimodal sensing and data integration, combining signals from multiple biosensing pathways to develop richer physiological insights. You’ll work hands-on with experimental sensing systems, exploring new signal sources, specifying and testing prototypes, and helping shape the next generation of health sensing at Oura.

  • Location: Finland, we have offices in Oulu & Helsinki

What You will do:

  • Develop and refine signal processing algorithms for multimodal biosignals (e.g., PPG, motion, temperature, and related physiological modalities).

  • Design end-to-end methods for signal fusion, from signal cleaning and multimodal data integration to modeling and validation.

  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams to understand sensing system performance and optimize data pipelines.

  • Work hands-on with prototype sensors, evaluation kits, and SDKs to explore new data channels, assess feasibility, and validate algorithmic approaches.

  • Explore the relationship between physical signals and physiological states, identifying new opportunities for insight generation.

  • Translate complex technical concepts and data-driven insights into clear, compelling narratives for senior and executive stakeholders, supporting strategic decision-making and roadmap alignment.

We would love to consider You for this role if You have:

  • 7+ years of experience in biosignal processing, sensor fusion, deep learning and multimodal data integration and analysis.

  • Proficiency in Python and scientific computing libraries (NumPy, SciPy, pandas, matplotlib).

  • Deep understanding of physiological systems and time-series data analysis.

  • Strong practical experience working with sensor hardware, prototypes, or evaluation environments.

  • Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Biomedical Engineering, Signal Processing, machine learning, voice based health sensing or related field.

  • Experience designing algorithms that perform robustly in noisy, real-world conditions.

  • Experience influencing technical and product strategy by clearly communicating data-driven insights to senior leadership.

Benefits:

  • A competitive salary and equity packages
  • Lunch, Culture and Wellness benefits
  • Flexible working hours + work-life balance
  • Collaborative, smart teammates and innovative environment
  • An Oura ring of your own + employee discount for friends and family
  • Wellness Time Off: Eight extra days time-off per year to devote to personal wellness

If this sound like an opportunity for you, apply as soon as possible but latest May 10, 2026.
