We are seeking a seasoned and strategic lead for hardware reliability testing to drive the vision and execution of our hardware validation efforts across all product platforms. In this leadership role, you will own the test strategy from concept to production, manage cross-functional alignment, mentor a high-performing test team, and ensure flawless execution in partnership with design, quality, and contract manufacturing partners. This position is based in Oulu, Finland

What You will do:

Test Strategy & Technical Leadership

  • Define and own the end-to-end hardware test strategy and high level plans, aligning with product and business objectives.
  • Drive the development of robust test methodologies for functional, environmental, mechanical, and regulatory testing.
  • Establish testing KPIs and lead initiatives to improve test coverage, efficiency, and quality outcomes.

Team & Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Lead and mentor a team of hardware reliability test engineers across multiple locations. Providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
  • Foster an environment of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration
  • Partner closely with mechanical, electrical, firmware, product design, and operations teams to influence design-for-testability and ensure alignment throughout the development cycle.
  • Represent the hardware test function in cross-functional program reviews.
  • Identify and address skill gaps, ensuring the team's capabilities match evolving product needs

Contract Manufacturer & External Partner Management

  • Lead hardware reliability test strategy integration with contract manufacturers (CMs), ensuring consistent quality during development and mass production.
  • Manage relationships with external test labs for specialized reliability or regulatory testing.

Hands-On Technical Execution

  • Hands-On Technical Leadership: Leads the test planning,reviews, execution and reporting for high-priority development builds and critical path programs.
  • Lead root cause investigations and drive resolution of complex hardware issues across engineering and manufacturing.
  • Support the development of automated test solutions and custom fixtures for both lab and factory use.

Quality & Documentation

  • Ensure all testing is documented in detail and traceable to requirements.
  • Establish and maintain high standards for test reporting, defect tracking, and risk management.
  • Develop and manage HW test team resource plans, ensuring adequate staffing, equipment availability, and lab capacity to meet program milestones.
  • Forecast future resourcing and capacity needs and advocate for hiring, contractor support, or investments in alignment with roadmap demands.
  • Define and implement scalable processes and tools to support growth in test activities

We would love to have You on our team, if You have:

  • 10+ years in hardware development and testing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven success leading HW test strategies for high-volume consumer electronics or wearable products.
  • Experience with contract manufacturer collaboration from EVT through mass production.
  • Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional initiatives that improved product quality.
  • Strong understanding of reliability and validation methods (e.g., Shock/Drop, Environmental Stress Testing).
  • Familiarity with regulatory and safety compliance.
  • Expertise with lab instrumentation and test automation platforms.
  • Strategic thinker with strong project management, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Work Environment

  • On-site preferred; hybrid options based on program phases.
  • Travel to CM or lab sites as needed to support builds and validation.
