As a valued member of our larger hardware team, this role will be based out of our San Diego office.

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Oura, you will be responsible for the design, development, and testing of mechanical components, assemblies and system integration for our products. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including mechanical engineers, industrial designers, system engineers and software engineers to create products that not only meet functional requirements but also provide an exceptional user experience.

What you will do:

  • Product Development: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop the product from concept to production. Ensure that mechanical engineering considerations are integrated into the product development process
  • Mechanical Design: Design and prototype future products. Design includes product components and manufacturing fixtures for efficient production
  • Component Selection: Identify and select appropriate components, materials and sensors considering product requirements and performance criteria
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct thorough testing, validation, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems to ensure they meet performance and safety standards
  • Collaborate with the Quality Assurance team to develop test plans
  • Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers to ensure seamless integration of components within the product's physical design
  • Cost Optimization: Identify opportunities for cost optimization in the mechanical design while maintaining product quality and performance
  • Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation (3D and 2D drawings), including design specifications, test reports, and assembly instructions
