Moon Juice Senior Editorial Manager

Los Angeles, CA / Full Time / Hybrid

Moon Juice is seeking a collaborative editorial manager who is passionate about wellness and sustainability to join our team. This role will evolve and uphold our brand identity through voice and tone and infuse our brand DNA in every piece of communication across all touch points. Working closely with the creative leadership of the brand, the Senior Editorial Manager is a critical role at a time of exciting growth for the business. This person will have the opportunity to explore new methods, mediums, and channels to tell the Moon Juice story and be an integral member of the cross-functional team responsible for generating excitement around the brand, launching new products, and educating consumers about our science-based approach to wellness.

The ideal candidate is a highly-gifted wordsmith — creative, sharp and a little wild – who understands how to create messaging that bridges the gap between marketing and creative, science and pop culture. This person should be able to inspire and educate audiences and succinctly communicate product truths. The ideal candidate is a creative storyteller who is inspired by a product, a visual, or a marketing brief and can bring the concept to life through words. This role sits at the intersection of Creative and Marketing and should be a positive force for unifying stakeholders to achieve shared goals.

Moon Juice HQ is located in Santa Monica, CA and requires in-office collaboration 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for copywriting across all consumer touch points and audiences. Manage a team of full-time and freelance writers to develop and refine content.

  • Take a 360 approach to all concepts and creative copywriting – mindful of the audience, the consumer journey, the overarching creative vision, and the business objectives.
  • Operate in lock step with the Marketing and Creative teams to translate initiatives and products into storytelling ranging from shortform taglines to longform blogs and sub-stacks.
  • Collaborate with Creative, Marketing, and Digital teams to manage the editorial calendar and planning.
  • Create brand and product narratives that drive brand awareness, buzz, engagement, and loyalty.
  • Be a key contributor to brainstorming sessions for creative marketing campaigns.
  • Stay on top of relevant cultural and industry trends.
  • Research the brand, the ingredients, scientific studies, medical expertise, market research, and consumer feedback and insights to translate and tailor the messaging, style, and relevancy to different consumer segments and channels.
  • Simplify complex scientific and product information into clear, concise, and compelling messaging hierarchies across sales and marketing channels.
  • Write clever and insightful copy for a variety of highly visible collateral including press quotes, campaign copy, brand site, in-store signage, and invites.
  • Partner closely with Creative and Marketing to develop product names and packaging copy.
  • Review and edit copy for accuracy, grammar, and style and ensure all content meets high standards of quality and adheres to brand guidelines consistently across channels.

Core Skills and Qualifications

  • 6+ years of relevant experience with a consumer brand, agency, or affiliate publication, with at least 2 years of experience managing a team of writers.
  • Journalism degree is a plus.
  • A creative thinker who maintains a high bar for quality and has an exceptional eye for detail.
