About the Role:
We're looking for an experienced Senior Editor who will serve as both our managing editor (overseeing a team of freelance writers, editors, copyeditors, and medical reviewers), and hands-on editor, serving as the final reviewer before content goes live.
You'll own our editorial workflow from assignment through publication, ensuring we maintain best-in-class standards while consistently hitting our monthly publishing targets. This role requires someone who thrives on managing multiple moving parts, can balance strategic thinking with meticulous execution, and knows how to keep a complex content operation running smoothly.
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with our Content Director and SEO analyst to align on our editorial calendar and overarching content strategy.
- Own the editorial calendar and content production schedule and workflow; manage multiple concurrent projects from assignment through publication, ensuring we consistently hit monthly publishing targets.
- Serve as the final editorial authority on all content before publication; ensure every piece meets brand standards for quality, accuracy, tone, voice, and style while maintaining consistency across all content touchpoints.
- Collaborate with the creative team to brief and develop design assets including hero images, graphics, charts, and infographics; review all visual elements for accuracy, brand alignment, and editorial integrity before publication.
- Manage, and mentor a network of freelance writers, editors, and copyeditors; assign projects, provide clear feedback, ensure timely delivery, and maintain strong working relationships that support quality output.
- Manage day-to-day publishing operations in our CMS (Prismic)
- Contribute editorial insights to content planning; identify opportunities to improve content quality and performance; stay current on industry trends and best practices in digital content and editorial operations.
What you’ll need to succeed:
- 5-7 years of editorial experience in SEO, content marketing, or publishing, preferably in the health and wellness space, with proven success managing editorial teams, production workflows, and content calendars at scale
- Strong editorial judgment and writing skills with exceptional eye for detail with ability to edit for clarity, accuracy, tone, and brand voice; an excellent writer and editor who can provide constructive feedback and elevate the work of others
- Experience building and managing networks of freelance contributors; skilled at scoping projects, setting clear expectations, providing actionable feedback, and maintaining productive long-term relationships
- Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple priorities, manage competing deadlines, and keep complex production schedules on track; proven track record of consistently hitting publishing targets
- Hands-on experience with content management systems and publishing platforms; comfortable with the technical aspects of content publishing including formatting, tagging, SEO basics, and troubleshooting
- Proactive mindset with ability to identify bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and implement systems that improve efficiency without sacrificing quality
- Clear communicator who can work effectively across teams; ability to manage up and across while advocating for editorial standards and maintaining positive working relationships in a fast-paced environment

The Salary range for this role is $140-165K base pay, dependent on experience and location. Midi pays a a competitive salary, inclusive of equity and benefits.
