Athena EHR Configuration Specialist and AI prompt engineer
- Dual (dotted) report to product and engineering
- Designs, configures, implements, and supports the Electronic Health Record (EHR) and the AI Assistant, including internal and external models (Claude)
- Acts as prompt engineer proxy for the ongoing optimization of AI assistant
- Accountable for clinical outcomes reports design with Quality & Safety & Clinical Outcomes Director
- Midi Rx clinical configuration (athena setup) & clinical flows (training, FAQs, documentation)
- Customizes, evaluates, and documents workflows to align with clinical needs.
- Manages Athena account creation and onboarding for new users.
- Configures clinical inboxes, task assignments, and overrides in Athena.
- Ensures hygiene of intake forms and updates based on organizational needs.
- Participates in product and engineering sprints and project and product rollouts
- AI Model Training and Updates: Regularly optimize and train the AI Assistant (e.g., Claude) for better alignment with clinical operations and user feedback.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as the bridge between product, engineering, and clinical teams to ensure seamless integration of AI and EHR solutions.
- Data Hygiene and Analysis: Maintain integrity of intake forms, user-generated data, and system logs; use data insights to recommend workflow and process improvements.
Education:
- Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
- Preferred: Advanced degree (e.g., MD with engineering background or Engineering with a focus on Healthtech).
- Certifications preferred: Athena EHR Certification or equivalent credentials in health informatics or AI technology.
Qualifications:
- Experience: 3-5 years of experience in EHR configuration, preferably Athena Health, with exposure to AI integration in healthcare systems.
- Technical Expertise: Proficiency in AI model optimization, prompt engineering, and EHR system setup, including clinical workflows and configurations.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to evaluate and document workflows to meet clinical and operational needs.
- Collaboration: Demonstrated experience in dual reporting roles, working with product and engineering teams to align technical solutions with organizational goals.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with healthcare regulations and compliance standards related to data privacy and security.
- Communication: Exceptional skills in training, documentation, and cross-functional communication.
