Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Contract Specialist with 7–10 years of relevant experience to join our growing legal team. You will own and optimize the full contract lifecycle, support complex negotiations, partner directly with cross-functional stakeholders, and help scale best-in-class contracting operations. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, consumer-facing environment and can balance risk while enabling creativity, growth, and operational excellence.
The ideal candidate is meticulous, resourceful, and capable of independently driving high-quality work. As an early member of our legal function, your contributions will meaningfully shape Function Health’s scalability and long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and optimize the full contract lifecycle—from intake to negotiation, execution, and archival—using Ironclad or similar CLM tools.
- Draft, redline, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements, including vendor agreements, SaaS/MSAs, NDAs, marketing and licensing agreements, and partnership agreements.
- Ensure contract terms comply with company policies, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
- Maintain and refine contract templates, playbooks, and guidance materials.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., product, engineering, operations, marketing, procurement) to ensure alignment and timely execution.
- Support internal stakeholders by translating legal risk into clear, actionable business recommendations.
- Track contract metrics and support process improvements to increase efficiency, visibility, and compliance.
- Administer legal tools and systems; liaise with vendors to troubleshoot issues and enhance functionality.
Qualifications / Skills
- 7–10 years of experience as a contract specialist, contracts manager, or similar role, preferably including in-house experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated expertise negotiating commercial agreements and managing complex contract workflows.
- Strong judgment, exceptional attention to detail, and outstanding organizational skills.
- Experience with CLM tools (Ironclad strongly preferred).
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines with minimal oversight.
- Collaborative, proactive, and solutions-oriented mindset.
Great-to-Have
- Experience in digital health, life sciences, healthcare technology, or consumer tech.
- Background developing or managing contracting playbooks.
- Familiarity with privacy, regulatory, or compliance considerations.
