Role:

The Director of Strategic Finance will own the analysis of member revenue, costs, margins, retention, and other key financial metrics, providing critical insights into the company's financial health. This role will also be pivotal in guiding the company's broader financial strategy, ensuring the business is well-positioned for both short-term and long-term success. The Director of Strategic Finance will focus on evaluating and managing investments, conducting profitability analysis, supporting M&A activities, and collaborating with other teams to drive financial planning and analysis at a granular level. They will work closely with the Director of Finance Operations to ensure alignment across financial initiatives.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working through ambiguity, complex data visualization, meticulous in their attention to detail, self-motivated, resourceful, and capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Member Profitability: Analyze member revenue, costs, margins, retention, and other key performance metrics to provide actionable insights that drive profitability optimization. Work closely with operations, marketing, and product teams to understand key drivers and improve financial performance at the member level.
  • Strategic Decision Support: Partner with senior leadership to evaluate and advise on strategic initiatives, including pricing strategies, new product launches, and market expansions. Provide financial analysis to support decision-making and ensure alignment with overall company goals.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with departments across the company (e.g., Operations, Marketing, Product) to provide financial insights and ensure that financial strategies are integrated into broader business objectives.
  • Investment Analysis: Evaluate and provide strategic insights into potential investment opportunities, including conducting in-depth financial modeling, market assessments, and return analysis.
  • M&A Support: Support M&A activities, including due diligence, financial modeling, integration planning, and post-deal performance tracking.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of financial analysts, ensuring the team is effectively supporting the company’s financial needs.
  • Reporting and Communication: Provide clear, actionable financial insights to executive leadership, ensuring financial data is understandable and aligned with strategic goals.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or related field (MBA or other advanced degree preferred).
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in financial strategy, corporate finance, or investment banking, with experience in high-growth environments.
  • Strong experience with financial modeling, forecasting, and valuation techniques.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex data, identify trends, and present recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Experience with M&A activities, including valuation, due diligence, and integration.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic decision-making and advising leadership on financial matters.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Strong leadership abilities with a track record of managing and developing teams.
