Role:
As the Director of DevOps, you'll play a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency, innovating technical solutions, and building and leading a dynamic team to optimize our groundbreaking health tech platform. Be part of a venture-backed initiative by Andreessen Horowitz, where your expertise in building out DevOps strategies will contribute to transforming lives through advanced technology and collaborative excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Enhance Operational Efficiency and Compliance: Ensure that all system operations, including availability, capacity, performance, and monitoring, are optimized for health tech requirements. Advocate for continuous improvement and adoption of DevOps practices across product development and quality assurance teams, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
- Lead and Innovate Technical Solutions: Drive innovation in systems and technology by providing detailed technical analysis to ensure that software and hardware solutions meet complex functional and business needs within the healthcare sector. Use tools like Jenkins, Chef, and Maven to develop and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines that enhance software delivery and operational reliability.
- Strategic Development and Process Optimization: Define and implement a strategy for DevOps practices that support the company's mission to enhance healthcare through technology. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and capitalize on opportunities for automation and process improvements, ensuring scalable and reliable software delivery.
- Team Leadership: Lead a team of DevOps professionals, providing guidance, mentorship, and technical expertise to foster their growth and effectiveness. Establish and maintain governance frameworks for DevOps standards and policies, ensuring alignment with overall organizational goals and the rigorous demands of health tech solutions.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Leadership in DevOps: 6+ years of experience in leading DevOps teams, with a proven track record in adopting DevOps practices and culture, as well as implementing CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks within a global organization.
- Cloud Platform Expertise: Strong expertise in managing and implementing cloud platforms such as GCP, 4 years of GCP
- Containerization and Infrastructure Automation: In-depth knowledge of container technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and CloudFormation.
- Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, enabling the automation of deployments and system management tasks, as well as integration with various APIs and data management systems.
- Communication and Leadership Skills: Excellent leadership and interpersonal communication abilities, capable of effectively collaborating with and leading diverse teams across multiple levels of the organization.
- Terraform experience, observability, go in and proactively confident in their expertise, trusted individual for action

Nice-to-Have Skills and Experiences:
While the core competencies are essential, the following qualifications will distinguish exceptional candidates:
- Degree Requirement: Degree in computer science or related field.
- Industry Experience: Experience in health-tech or finance companies.
- Leadership Experience: Has scaled a team - leading a team of 10+ (minimum of 6 team members).
- Technical Background: Previous Backend or Fullstack Software Engineer with lead experience.
- Start-Up Experience: We highly value individuals with start-up experience, especially former founders or early engineering hires. This experience indicates a versatile skill set and an ability to thrive in fast-paced, evolving environments.
- Familiarity with Health Technologies: Knowledge of or experience with popular health technologies, such as Oura, Whoop, Apple Watch, and CGMs (Continuous Glucose Monitors). An interest in or experience with health and wellness technologies suggests a passion for leveraging technology to improve personal and community health outcomes.
