We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant to be a key member of our preclinical R&D team. You will be a collaborative and flexible team member playing a critical role in ensuring scientific excellence and smooth lab operations, contributing directly to experimental output, and enabling the team to execute at speed and scale. We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant or Senior Research Assistant to be a key member of our preclinical R&D team. You will be a collaborative and flexible team member playing a critical role in ensuring scientific excellence and smooth lab operations, contributing directly to experimental output, and enabling the team to execute at speed and scale. This is a hands-on, laboratory-based role combining:
- Experimental work across multiple programs focused on molecular biology
- Laboratory operations and management
- Perform and support mammalian cell culture experiments, cell banking and maintenance
- Conduct core molecular biology techniques, including:
- Western blotting
- qPCR
- Assist scientists across multiple programs with:
- Experimental setup and execution
- Sample preparation and processing
- Data collection and preliminary analysis
- Support reproducibility through rigorous record-keeping and protocol adherence
- Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control of reagents
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments, including biological materials
- Maintain equipment, coordinate servicing, implement and maintain best practices in lab organisation, safety, and documentation
- BSc or MSc in a relevant life sciences discipline
- A minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a research laboratory (industry or academic)
- Strong experience in core molecular biology including mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, preparation of cell samples for downstream analysis (e.g. LCMS, RNA Seq)
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong record-keeping and documentation practices
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Desirable - Experience in biotech or drug discovery settings
- Desirable - Experience with protein purification techniques / CRISPR, NGS, or assay development workflows
- Desirable - Data analysis skills / experience
- Location: Cambridge, UK (wet lab, full time on-site role)
