Position Overview
Daily Harvest is looking for a Senior Associate, Strategic Finance to join our team. This position will focus on Strategic Finance as it pertains to Grocery and Retail. This person will support development of and ongoing maintenance of budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for new Retail sales channel, inclusive of demand planning and internal + external reporting.
The Strategic Finance team at Daily Harvest prepares analyses, financial forecasts, and reporting packages to help drive key decision-making across the organization. The team leads the annual budget process, tracks performance against budget and updates forecasts throughout the year, and prepares materials to communicate business results to the leadership team and external stakeholders. The Strategic Finance function also supports long-range financial planning. This Manager will oversee revenue, COGS, and LTV modeling and be a strategic partner to our Operations and Culinary Innovation teams.
What you’ll do:
- Demand forecasting
- Partnering with Retail team to assess sales data and determine expected sales per item to be able to share with our Ops partners for Supply Planning
- Develop dynamic and easy to update demand models for secured retailers
- Support development of process for updating demand forecast incorporating stakeholders from Grocery team to understand SKU by SKU performance at each retailer and to refine forecast for marketing campaigns and other sales driving events
- Project demand for + help the supply chain team prepare for “cold start” launches with new retailers
- Revenue forecasting (budgeting, long term planning, etc.)
- Build and maintain dynamic models to support scenario planning
- FYI v1 model exists, but there is room for improvement
- Partner with Sales team and Head of Grocery to build scenarios around retailer launches, door count, assortment, etc.
- Partner with team to identify opportunities for additional wins
- Cost of Goods forecasting
- Partner with Ops partners and Grocery Sales Strategy & Ops lead to understand how are costs are tracking against expectations to report on performance, reflect in forecasting / budgeting, and identify opportunities for savings + efficiencies
- Operating Expense forecasting
- Partner with Head of Grocery, Grocery Sales Strategy & Ops lead, and other key stakeholders to maintain full expense forecast
- 1x per month meeting to understand actuals and expectations for rest of year
- Budget for expenses 1x per year
- Partner with Marketing team to understand campaign effectiveness in order to 1) refine revenue forecast, 2) prove return on investment and 3) serve as a strategic thought partner for future campaigns
- Partner with Head of Grocery, Grocery Sales Strategy & Ops lead, and other key stakeholders to maintain full expense forecast
- Reporting + KPI analysis
- Pricing & Promotions
- Partner with Grocery Sales Strategy & Ops lead to develop and maintain promotional guardrails that meet both our sales and margin objectives and support us in running high value promotions
Who you are:
- 4+ years of experience in FP&A/Strategic Finance, with preference for experience at a high-growth subscription start-up and specifically with retail/grocery finance
- A relevant bachelor’s degree with a strong academic track record
- Mastery of financial modeling in Excel and a solid base in both accounting + finance
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
- The attitude of a team player, possessing a strong work ethic and drive for results
- Ability to thrive in an unstructured, fast-moving and constantly evolving high-growth environment
- Self-motivated and the able to juggle an array of tasks
The anticipated annual base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $100,000. Actual compensation will be commensurate with experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skills.
