Job overview:

The Senior Director FP&A will report to the VP of Finance (based in London) and play an integral part in the ongoing expansion of the Finance team at an exciting time in the Company’s development as we prepare to seek regulatory approval and move into commercialization.

The CFO, SVP of Investor Relations and Director of External Reporting are all based in the US, on the East Coast. The primarily London-based Finance team currently provide a centralised service for both the UK and US teams. This role will have responsibility for the FP&A team, currently consisting of an FP&A Manager and Senior Finance Analyst, both based in London. As we progress towards commercialization, we expect to expand more significantly in the US. The role is expected to be fulfilled on a remote basis with flexibility to work from our NYC office if preferred and some time spent on periodic visits to London to work with the UK with the broader team. The role will require strong leadership abilities, flexibility, communication, analytical and influencing skills, attention to detail and a keen interest in a strong commitment to a collaborative, cross-functional working way of working.

The Company uses NetSuite as its ERP system, Workday as its financial planning and analysis system and partners with ADP as payroll provider.

Reports to: Vice President, Finance.

Location: Remote/Hybrid on the East Coast, USA (with preference for Boston, NYC, Washington DC and Philadelphia).

Roles and responsibilities

(include but are not limited to):

  • Responsible for building, managing and developing the FP&A team, with the FP&A Manager as a direct report
  • Design and operation of annual, quarterly and monthly planning and reporting process, including partnering with the VP Corporate Development to coordinate with goal-setting design
  • Review of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts, including preparation of materials for the Board and Board Committees
  • Monthly review of budget/forecasted results against actuals, including frequent interactions with all departments
  • Review of Management Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) in quarterly and annual filings
  • Cross-functional collaboration with all departments, in particular the People team, to support budgeting/forecasting processes
  • Working cross-functionally with Commercial and Corporate Development teams on long-term modelling and gross-to-net analysis as we progress towards commercialization
  • Provide support to clinical operations on the planning and execution of two phase 3 and two phase 2 trials, with potential to provide support for further trials in future
  • Preparation and presentation of financial runway projections, including going concern analysis in support of financial statements
  • Preparation of ad hoc financial diligence requests
  • May fulfil additional ad hoc requests depending on business activity, including working with the Corporate Development team to determine impacts of potential partnerships
  • Working closely with the VP of Finance, CFO and Executive Team, we encourage cross-functional working and support those who wish to gain experience beyond their immediate job description

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will likely have an MBA, or Big 4 (CPA) experience and a strong academic background, with a proven track-record in a high-quality company with significant late stage clinical and commercial experience, and have an entrepreneurial outlook.

Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.

Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work and any role at COMPASS, regardless of the location, is eligible for additional discretionary bonuses and equity.
