We are seeking a Controller with a background in multi-unit restaurants. This person will be responsible for leading, directing, and managing the company's accounting, treasury, and related corporate functions for our premium brand’s cafes and coffee shops. This hands-on role requires a highly experienced, collaborative, and adaptable accounting and finance professional with strong leadership and people skills. The ideal candidate will be able to operate in a fast-paced environment and work alongside the Executive Team to provide support. The role directs the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and works with the Company’s external auditor to complete the annual audit.

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Overall lead the accounting team headed by a Director of Accounting and their reports including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting staff
  • Direct active areas of multi-unit operations including lease accounting, cash management, fixed assets, sales tax and licensing compliance
  • Execution of daily treasury/bank functions including approving vendor disbursements and reviewing bank activity
  • Administer corporate card expense program and reimbursements using best-in-class tools (RAMP)
  • Work closely with FP&A team to help prepare, deliver internal financials and analyze weekly cash flow statements and make recommendations to maintain and/or improve cash position
  • Partner with supply chain team on inventory system controls and period end reviews Partner with Operations teams to identify areas of opportunity with respect to controls and/or spending in the restaurants
  • Work with lease management software for administration and applying lease accounting rules; calculate monthly base and percentage rent and communicate with property landlords
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining internal financial policies, procedures and controls
  • Review and approve journal entries as necessary and review balance sheet reconciliations
  • Suggest new technology to reduce manual processes and improve efficiency in accounting cycle.
  • Coordinate with payroll team for financial approval of payroll
  • Ensure compliance with all company, federal, state, and local laws and ethical business practices related to accounting operations and financial reporting
  • Prepare Bluestone Lane Support Center/G&A budget and report on performance and assist with preparation of the annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Work with external auditors on audit requests and documentation to ensure timely and accurate completion of the Company’s annual external audit

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
  • CPA certification required
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ financial accounting management experience, including leading an accounting team
  • Multi-unit restaurant/hospitality experience required, 20+ units preferred
  • Experience with restaurant accounting software - Restaurant 365 a plus
  • Ability to successfully work cross functionally with other departments
  • Strong prioritization and muti-tasking skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Attention to detail and analytically driven

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $160,000.00 - $180,000.00 per year (DOE)
